Richard Maloof holds instructor level certification in the Bujinkan, and has over 30 years of experience training in Chinese and Japanese martial arts. Richard spent nine years in Japan, and is a direct student of Masaaki Hatsumi, as well as his top students, Oguri Junichi, Someya Kenichi, and Toshiro Nagato. In addition to “old school” jujutsu, Richard also studied judo with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, as well as kendo and kenjutsu with well-known teachers while in Japan.

Additionally, Richard is a graduate of Norwich University, Military College of Vermont, and served for over 10 years as a US Army Officer. During that time, he served under multiple Commands, and had the opportunity to provide support to DEA. Richard is fluent in Japanese, speaks Mandarin Chinese, and enjoys vacationing in Japan, Taiwan, and New York City.

Richard has also done military parachuting, enjoys participating in the Warrior Dash and Spartan Race, is a certified SCUBA diver, and has done many other macho, manly things...He wonders what this has to do with teaching martial arts and self protection skills, but since everyone else seems to put it on their web page...

He takes the art seriously, not himself.
